Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 3, 2026
Waiz ("we", "our", or "us") is a travel planning app. This policy describes exactly what data we collect, what we do with it, and who else sees it. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect
- Account info: your name, email address, avatar, and the identifier from your Apple or Google account when you sign in with them.
- Travel content: your trips, itineraries and the locations of places in them, expenses and budgets, documents and photos you upload, notes, polls, saved places, and visited countries. Together this forms a record of your travel history.
- Travel preferences: your interests, budget level, pace, travel party, accommodation and transport preferences, dietary restrictions, and home city.
- Device location: precise location, only while you use location features such as nearby suggestions in chat, and only after you grant permission through iOS.
- Imported booking emails: the full content and attachments of emails forwarded to trips@getwaiz.com. This includes mail we receive from senders we cannot match to an account.
- Voice input: transcribed on your device. The audio itself never leaves your device.
- Device identifiers: a push notification token, and an install identifier used to prevent referral fraud.
- Usage data: product analytics and crash and performance diagnostics.
- Share-link view statistics: when someone opens a trip you shared, we record a salted one-way hash of their IP address and browser, plus their country. The raw IP address is never stored, and view records are deleted after 90 days.
How AI features use your data
Waiz's AI features — chat, trip generation, and email import — work by sending relevant data to third-party AI providers: Google (Gemini), OpenAI, and Anthropic. What each feature sends:
- Chat sends your messages, your travel profile (including dietary restrictions), details of your trips, and — when you use nearby suggestions — your device location.
- Trip generation sends your preferences, dates, destinations, free-text notes, and lodging details.
- Email import sends the full content of forwarded emails so bookings can be extracted from them.
These providers process the data in order to deliver the feature. Their own privacy policies apply to that processing: Google (Gemini), OpenAI, Anthropic.
We also use an AI quality-monitoring service to review how these features perform. Monitoring records are linked to your account id.
Service providers
Beyond the AI providers above, we share data with a small number of companies that process it on our behalf: subscription management, product analytics, crash reporting, and the cloud infrastructure that hosts Waiz and delivers email. Each receives only what its job requires and may not use your data for anything else.
Place search and directions are powered by Google. Your searches are sent to Google to return results; see the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data
We never sell your data. We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not share your data with data brokers. Data goes only to the service providers listed above, and only to make Waiz work.
Cookies
On our website we use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site, and only after you accept them. You can decline, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Sharing trips
When you create a public share link, anyone with the link can see the trip's itinerary, the locations of its activities, and expense amounts. Share links never expose names, email addresses, or who paid for what. You can revoke a link at any time, and links can be set to expire.
When you invite collaborators to a trip, they can see and edit the trip's content.
Retention and deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app under Settings. Deletion has a 30-day grace window: if you sign back in within 30 days, your account is restored. After that, your content and uploaded files are permanently deleted.
Trips you share with collaborators are not deleted with your account — ownership is handed to a remaining collaborator instead. If you do not want that, leave those trips before deleting your account.
Subscription billing is managed by Apple. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — cancel it separately in your App Store settings.
Children
Waiz is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. For significant changes, we will also notify you in the app.
